After completing my BS degree in chemistry and education from the University of Delaware, I taught high school chemistry at John Dickinson High School in Wilmington, Delaware. I left teaching after two years and obtained my MBA.

After completing my MBA, I started working at DuPont in the field of Medical and Research Products.  During my 15 years at DuPont, I was a Process Chemist, a Quality Assurance Chemist, a first line supervisor in Reagent Testing, and then supported manufacturing in inventory control.  While in inventory control, I introduced the concept of MRP and reduced inventory by 30% while reducing stock outs by 97%.
I was then promoted to Business Analyst and progressed to positions in Marketing Management where I was the Product Manager for Instrumentation Service and a Product Manager for an OEM line of instruments manufactured in Germany.  I then moved into a new product launch for a cutting edge DNA sequencer. Then I moved into Sorvall Centrifuges.

I left DuPont to pursue an opportunity as a Technical Director at a start up Swiss laboratory robot company (ROSYS) that was later acquired by Quiagen. We sold and supported laboratory robots that were used in the biotechnology and medical fields. I was co-author for several technical papers that were published.

I then moved into marketing product management at Wyeth as a Product Manager with international responsibility for $500M in product sales. While there, I was able to travel the world visiting such places as Hong Kong, Turkey, Columbia, Australia and much of Europe. Wyeth was a great place to work and I was able to introduce new four new nutritional products during my tenure.

After much soul searching and deciding we both desired a career change, my wife and I decided to change our careers and we both became teachers. In 2006, we left Pennsylvania and moved to Gold Beach, Oregon, where I taught Chemistry, Physical Science, and Algebra at Gold Beach High School.  I will be leaving that position in the summer of 2009 and am starting up an online business to promote tourism to the beautiful Oregon South Coast. My new business name is Pound Hammer Media, Inc.

I am also serving as a consultant at the Animal Behavior Institute, providing them with marketing and sales advice as well as computer technical support.
